Register for sports camps
West Feliciana High Athletics is hosting a series of athletics camps over the summer. These include volleyball, track and field, soccer, baseball and softball, football, cheer and dance. Running club kicks off
Big River Running Club kicked off May 28. Start and stop is at Big River. The 5K route is around downtown, followed by extended Happy Hour pricing on draft beer, wine and co*cktails, at 6 p.m. every Tuesday.
Animal society holding adoption event
West Feliciana Animal Humans Society is holding a mega adoption special on dogs one year and older. All will be up-to-date on vaccinations, rabies and deworming; spayed/neutered and chipped. The earlier in the month you adopt, the better the adoption fee: June 1-10: $10, June 11-20: $20, June 21-30: $30.
All potential adopters must have an approved application found at wfahs.org, which is also where the adoptable dogs can be viewed. Call the shelter at (225) 635-5801.
Also, remember the annual Wags and Whiskers Gala fundraiser is set for Aug. 3.
Summer camps underway
West Feliciana Summer Camp registration is open, running through July 26 for ages 6-11. Cost is $175 a week. Camps run 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Old Bains Elementary gym. Call (225) 784-8447 for information. Register at www.wfprec.com.

Renew you child's library card
Audubon Regional Library announced that in compliance with LA R.S. 25:225, all library cards for youth expired May 20. Stop by any location to update your child’s card.
Day war stopped observance set
The Day the War Stopped will be observed June 8 in downtown St. Francisville.
Throughout the day, Feliciana Lodge No. 31 on Prosperity Street will be open for tours.
At 9 a.m., the national anthem and a welcome will be given at the lodge followed by the Day the War Stopped Play at 9:30 a.m. at Jackson Hall, Grace Episcopal Church.
At 10 a.m., historical re-enactment and graveside histories start at the corner of Prosperity and Ferdinand streets and into Grace Episcopal Cemetery.
The sixth annual Jambalaya Cookoff runs from11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the courthouse grounds across from lodge. At 1 p.m., the jambalaya and raffle winners will be announced at the lodge.
Vintage dancing and music will run from noon to 2 p.m. at Jackson Hall, Grace Episcopal Church.
The closing of the lodge will run from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and a gala with music, food and drinks for $25 will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Magnolia Café.

Physician’s orders are required and appointments are strongly encouraged.
Paint some wildflower art
The Feliciana Wildflower Festival is June 1. Events for the festival will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1 during the Clinton Community Market and in downtown Jackson.
Activities include vendor booths with garden related and other items, food vendors, educational classes and activities for children. There will also be a Wildflower Photography Contest.
Outreach stations will be set up at businesses and spots along the wildflower trail. Participants include the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Pheasants Forever, East Feliciana 4-H, LSU AgCenter, Southern University AgCenter, Wisteria Alliance, Maypop Hill, McKowen Farms, H Mercantile, The Green Door at H Mercantile and Galvez Distillery.
Design a library card for Audubon
Audubon Regional Library is holding a Design Discovery card design contest. Young artists in the community are invited to submit a design by July 15 for a chance to grace library cards for a year. For guidelines and an entry template, contact your school or your local Audubon library branch.
Donate formal dresses
The Slaughter Civic Club is holding a dress drive, asking people to donate formal dresses for bridesmaids, prom or homecoming. The dresses will be sold at the Back to School Bash: long for $50 and short for $25. Money goes toward the beautification of the town, festivals and other community activities. Dresses can be dropped off at Town Hall from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 11 or contact Delaney at (225) 301-5734 or Adele at (225) 931-2470 for a special drop-off.
